The project is supported under the Environment for Life programme of the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (project No. SS07010095).
The principal objective of the research is to establish a systematic approach that has not yet been implemented and to create a comprehensive tool for the sustainable management of food waste by Czech municipalities and their associations. This objective will be achieved through several specific goals: implementing innovative procedures for the quantitative and qualitative determination of food-waste production; selecting optimal methods for handling food waste within a municipality or region; defining preventive measures to reduce food-waste generation and methods for evaluating their effectiveness; and determining the economic impacts of the selected preventive measures and management methods.
