The aim of the study was to propose management measures leading to the creation of conditions for shifting the centre of gravity of the tourist load in the Šumava region to less burdened areas with sufficient potential for tourism, which enable the development of tourist infrastructure. Due to the long-term attendance of the Šumava region, strong poles were generated, which form intensively used tourist (and recreational) icons located mainly in the central part of the Šumava National Park. In these parts, the capacity limits of the local infrastructure may be exceeded, which may lead to a negative impact on nature and visitors themselves. In areas outside the central part of the Bohemian Forest, there are large areas with attractive nature and depopulating villages, where the potential of tourism is far from being exploited and where it is advisable to expand the number of visitors to the area in order to relieve exposed places. As part of the analytical part of the study, a mapping and description of the area by zones was carried out from the point of view of tourism and nature protection (tourist attractiveness, sensitivity of nature, tourist load on nature, tourist amenities). In the design part, values, visions, goals and measures for the development of sustainable tourism were formulated.
