Currently, the pressure on city management in planning the future development of the area is intensifying. It is necessary to strengthen the efficiency and effectiveness of territorial public administration, take into account economic and social conditions, focus on communication with the public, improve communication between cities and surrounding municipalities. The aim is to create real opportunities or paths to sustainable development of the area on the basis of a constructive and up-to-date assessment of the current situation. Thanks to the mutual location of the cities of Aš and Selb, which are 8.9 km away from each other, it is appropriate to focus on the development and ensuring cooperation between these cities in order to strengthen economic, social and cultural relations, protect the environment, develop tourism and the business environment leading to an improvement in the quality of life of the inhabitants of these cities. The document “Strategic Plan of Cooperation in the Aš-Selb Border Area”, as a fundamental strategic development document, serves to set a common strategy of cities according to their needs, priorities and financing possibilities. At the same time, it provides the basis for decisions of the public administration of cities on the implementation of activities leading to sustainable development using the internal potential of the territory and, in particular, to ensure activities leading to cooperation in the border area. When creating a strategic plan, existing strategic documents of cities, regions, regions, spatial planning documentation and spatial analytical documents are respected.
